About Us

The Mental Health Association of Alameda County (MHAAC) has been serving people with mental illness and their families throughout Alameda County since 1958. The MHAAC is a non-profit agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Funding:

MHAAC's current fiscal year budget is $4,200,000; of this, 95% comes from contracts with Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services and San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services and the remainder from special events revenue and individual contributions.

Staff members:

MHAAC employs 42 staff members; several are part-time. Management staff members are:

Patients' Rights Advocacy (PRA) Director: Francesca Tenenbaum

Family Education and Resource Center (FERC) Director: Annie Kim

Family Partner Program (FPP) Director: Allison Massey

MHAAC is an independent local affiliate of the Mental Health Association in California, which is based in Sacramento, and Mental Health America with offices in Alexandria, Virgina.
